This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you as a member of BRISC.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you fill in an application form and pay the appropriate membership fee. You also may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an email message containing a question or comment. We use personally identifying information from email solely to respond to your requests. We may forward your email to other committee members who are better able to answer your questions. Emails and telephone calls will be used for the purposes outlined at the time of collection or registration in accordance with the preferences you express.

How will we use the information about you?

We collect information about you to administer your membership and to be able to send you Recorder News (which is a benefit of membership) and, if you agree, to email you about events, meetings and related biological recording activities we think may be of interest to you. BRISC will not share your information with any other organisation for any purpose.

Marketing

If you have consented on your application form we would send you information about biological recording activities, but you may opt out at any time by contacting us by email at info@brisc.org.uk.

Access to your information and correction

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email info@brisc.org.uk or write to the Membership Secretary. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

Storage of Personal Data

We will hold your details as long as you are a member of BRISC and for six years after you cease to be a member, for Gift Aid purposes. (see www.gov.uk/claim-gift-aid/gift-aid-declarations)
